Lab-grown diamonds are impossible to distinguish from naturally mined diamonds and can only be identified with extensive scientific testing using specialized equipment.

Here’s the FTC’s 2018 new definition: A diamond is a mineral consisting essentially of pure carbon crystallized in the isometric system.

Laboratory-grown diamonds are an appealing option when you want to buy diamonds—they are about 30% less compared to naturally-mined diamonds and the options for carat sizes are now easily available.
