4C’S OF A DIAMOND
Gordon Max diamond education is designed to answer all your questions. It explains a diamond’s characteristics, how those
characteristics influence appearance, and which are more important than others.
INCLUSIONS ARE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH ARE ENTIRELY INSIDE A STONE OR EXTEND INTO IT FROM THE SURFACE. THE GIA DEFINES BLEMISHES AS “CHARACTERISTICS CONFINED TO OR PRIMARILY AFFECTING THE SURFACE”.
IDEAL CUT DIAMONDS SHARE THESE CHARACTERISTICS:
A good cut can increase its brilliance, sparkle, durability and aesthetic appeal.
Diamonds cut with precise angles and proportions so light will be reflected and dispersed through the top of the stone, not at the sides or bottom.
They have very good symmetry. The table and culet are well-centered and the table is parallel to the girdle.

1 CARAT DIAMOND
All 3 names refer to the same weight but 1 carat sounds more impressive, it is traced back to the ancient times when gemstones were weighed against carob bean seeds. Each bean seed weighed about 1 carat.

DIAMONDS COME IN A WIDE VARIETY OF COLORS INCLUDING GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, PINK AND BLACK. BUT SUCH DIAMONDS ARE NOT VERY COMMON, SO THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SPECIAL NAME – FANCY COLOUR DIAMONDS, MEANING DIAMONDS WITH A NATURAL BODY COLOUR OTHER THAN WHITE OR LIGHT YELLOW
D: Gordon Max only carries diamonds based on this color. The highest colour grade attributed to a diamond, the stone is completely colorless; as such, they are extremely rare and command the highest prices.
E-F: The color difference between an E and an F is only visible to an expert gemologist using master stones as a comparison.
G-H: G and H graded diamonds are nearly colorless and a slight color difference only becomes apparent when compared to diamonds of grades D or E.
I-J: I colored diamonds are very slightly tinted diamonds, however, once set in jewellery, these stones may appear colorless.
K-N: Slightly tinted diamonds, once set in jewellery, especially in yellow gold, it is harder to see the slight yellow tint which the K grade produces.
